JANUARY 2024 – TPO Uganda has been admitted to the global inter-agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme (MDS), a development that will see the organization facilitate sharing of misconduct data with other employers.
The move is aimed at stopping perpetrators of sexual misconduct from moving between organisations undetected. By signing up to the MDS, TPO Uganda makes a commitment to systematically check with previous employers about any Sexual Exploitation Abuse and Harassment (SEAH) issues relating to potential new hires and, to respond systematically to such checks from others. In addition to these commitments, TPO Uganda like other implementing organizations will submit data on the extent of implementation on annual basis.
TPO Uganda Country Director, Patrick Sambaga says the scheme complements the work that the organization is already doing in line with safeguarding against SEAH as part of the recruitment processes.
“Admission to MDS contributes to TPO Uganda’s efforts to prevent and address the consequences of sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse. This cements our ground to explore further collaborative approaches in safeguarding against SEAH”, said Sambaga. MDS is currently implemented by over 240 organisations worldwide with TPO Uganda registered as the 197th entrant.
